Hi WE HAVE BEEN PAYING Scotish power by direct debit over the last few years and had kept increasing, until we contacted them and have given them numerous meter readings. They have agreed that our account is £9778.05 in credit and it also shows on our account. They have told us on 4 seperate occasions that they will refund the money within 10 to 15 days and on all 4 occasions that it will be credited to our account only for it never to happen.I am geting very anxious about it and would like to know what steps to take next.

Welcome to the forum.
Submit a formal complaint by snail mail, getting a free Certificate of Posting, and ask for the refund or a deadlock letter. Go to the ombudsman upon receipt of the deadlock letter or after eight weeks if they don't send one.
Remember to come back and tell us how it went.0 -

Harrygrace1 said:Hi WE HAVE BEEN PAYING Scotish power by direct debit over the last few years...... which probably means that you've ended upon a hopelessly expensive default tariff.Switching to a cost effective supplier (two would probably be better) would not only lower your bills but it would also trigger a final bill within six weeks, and a refund of credit within a further two weeks. One stone, two birds.0
