O/S Daily Thursday 17 June 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH at home not feeling great - seems to be classic side effects from his jab he had a few days ago. I'm going for mine today. I'm showered, dressed and I'm enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS1 up and gone to work. DS2 settled and happy.
Cloudy overcast rainy - cooler but not that much.
Dinner last night was a spatchcock piri piri chicken, mixed veg rice - I had salad with mine. Tonight will be easy fish, chips and beans for the menfolk.
I'm going into work to drop my bags then walking to the vaccination centre - it's only a short walk from where I work - quicker to walk than to drive. Then I can have a steady walk back instead of waiting the 15 mins before driving.
I don't like this layout - it seems difficult find things and it's messy.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off nmlc, hope all goes well with your vaccination today.Yesterday Alan and I lingered over breakfast again before it was time for more work. He moved wardrobes, chairs and tables around to both fill gaps and make everything look a bit better. In the afternoon I began stuffing things into cupboards, all the ones we've spent weeks emptying are now back in use.The upstairs neighbour was magnificent. He used the vacuum to clean the tops of the lampshades. He was up and down the high ladders and was meticulous when doing it. Everyone coming through the doors recently has been an angel in disguise.Number one nephew arrived about 8pm, we sat and talked until gone 2am 😱 we hardly moved from our chairs all that time. His evening meal was two big packets of crisps. 😱 it's so lovely to have him here.Today he's going to help me with the final push to put away knickknacks to make the place photograph ready. The cleaner is also coming to do an all round clean. For now I'm still having a wee laze in bed, won't be long until I will make some bacon rolls for breakfast.I hope that everyone is doing OK. Happy Thursday to all.12

Morning All
Not sure I like this new layout, thought my laptop had broken last night!
Enjoy the company Gers, sounds like everyone is being of great help.
Happy jab day nmlc.
Sunny this morning for a change, yesterday's rain was epic but it turned into quite a nice afternoon.
Not much happening apart from me stressing about work, I'm sure today will be better!
Have a happy Thursday, take care. XX13 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Good luck with the jab. There's evidence of a bit of overnight dampness outside but nowt to mean owt. If it rained heavy I must have slept through it.
I don't know, I go AWOL for a day and come back to all change AGAIN on here. It won't be long before long time regulars have had enough of all the messing about and jump ship. I suppose it keeps someone in a job thinking up ideas on how to confuse us all.
Anyway I had a lovely day out, we settled on Skipton after a short debate. A bit of browsing and ambling about and then spent 3 hours over an enormous lunch and bottle of wine and, of course, much talking. The only thing I bought was a white linen skirt as I have been looking for one for months without success. Oh and the weather was perfect too but it did get a bit hot on the bus behind the masks.
Today I have the hairdresser coming around lunchtime for a much needed trim. I currently resemble Pansy Potter when I fall out of bed each morning with my hair stuck up on end. Before that it will be the usual Thursday clean of the kitchen and bathroom. After lunch it will no doubt be feet up reading. Whether that's indoors or out is weather dependant!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, poorly loved ones and those with worries and woes. Take care all x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
It's cooler here this morning so Beano will be happier and more comfortable. I need to reorganize my freezer, the friends we are travelling with are returning to Reading for work for five weeks and with our a car shopping is very difficult so I did a huge shop yesterday and there is stuff in the fridge that needs to go in the freezer.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester.

Good morning, it's a cloudy start here.I was surprised to see it's all change on here, we'll get used to it I suppose.Glad you had a nice day out yesterday TA, things seem to be getting back to normal - I'm meeting an ex work colleague tomorrow for coffee at a local cafe, then some friends on Monday, at Do*bies, whoo hoo, quite the social butterfly!Things seem to be progressing well for you Gers, glad you're getting sorted out.Yesterday after lunch we just abandoned everything at home and went to the seaside, we had a lovely walk. It was much better than doing the ironing! I'm glad we did, today is not looking up to much weatherwise.Hope everyone has a good Thursday - take care folks13

Morning everyone
I don't like this new layout either - just seems to be a big empty space on half the screen - hopefully it will get changed back again.
Little one came for a couple of hours after work yesterday - she had a good play outside on her little bike - or bicycle as she calls it! Weather still nice here - though its meant to rain all day Sunday. Eldest DD in Nuremberg has temperatures of 33 degrees! She's realised its not pleasant working when it's so hot - better if you're lying on a beach somewhere.
Gers - it's good that you've had help to get the flat organised and that so many of your mums things will be used again. I'd better move myself to go down to work.
Hope everyone has a good day13 -
Covid has finally made appearance in our village. Several children at the little village school have tested positive so the school is shut for a deep clean. locally numbers are still low but rising. Seems never ending.10

Morning, hugs if you need one. Glad you have had more help Gers. remember to rest and relax.
Rant warning!! Why oh why do the powers that be decide to change something that was working great? It beats me, why can't they just leave it alone!!! Yesterday there were two june 16th entries running........
We have had some rain overnight but its not been a lot, its very grey and overcast just now. DB says the rain is to clear, I believe that when I see it.
A load in the washer, things I want to take away with us so most of it will be going in the dryer except the two skirts, I will hang them on hangers, they are both mixed fibre's, might need a light iron depends how they come out of the washer.
Ding suppers tonight, and again when we get home on Tuesday. I will then have to put another order through to stock up again, they do come in very useful, especially when I have had a busy day.
Coffee morning was OK, I handed over the two book pillows, both ladies were delighted. OH had a mini vacant moment, he said it was too hot, I nipped home and collected the car, he was ok after his lunch, went for his siesta as usual. It was late in the evening before we ventured out into the garden. I moved all the pots etc from under the eves of the bungalow so they will get watered if it rains, its just the hanging baskets that will need doing each night.
So clear up and pack day, DB is going to go over the inside of the car, the outside was cleaned at the weekend and any dust that might have settles has been washed off by the rain. screen washer and oil checked, so ready for the off. I had asked about the tyres and was told that the on board computer would tell me if the pressure was getting low and also which tyre needs pumping up. Wish it had a programme to make a cup of tea!!
Right dessert tonight will be chocolate mousse and strawberries, not sure which ding dinner we will be having, need to go and check.9 -
Morning all
Dull and overcast here but much cooler which is nice for a change the dog walks will be more pleasant today, I am trying to do 10k steps a day so it will be easier in this weather.
DD is off to a meeting this morning so just me and the pups here so will have a tidy round and then get them out for the first walk.
Today I am going to clean the stairs (walls and skirting boards ect) and the upstairs landing it should be a bit eaiser in the cool and this afternon I shall try and have a rest on the sofa before walk no 2
Not sure about this new layout, whats with the huge gap on the left ? it seems all squashed up.
Gers you are doing so well and its nice that you have some help xx
Have good days all xx
