Hello
would sincerely appreciate some info, can’t seem to find any accurate info regarding this...
So i defaulted on a shop direct account & chose to ignore it, was just under £500.
The default was added to my Transunion & clearscore accounts.
this is now at the 6 year point & today i received new alerts from clearscore saying that the shop direct account was being removed, also though that a new shop direct account was being added! I don’t have a new account with them, the account number is different than the defaulted one, there isn’t much info right now as clearscore wont fully update until July, surely shop direct can’t relist the default again? Did they see that the 6 years was up & relist it? I’ve never acknowledged the debt or made any payments etc, i know they can sell the debt & the agency can list the default, but i didn’t think the original creditor could list twce.
Thanks in advance anyone xx

I don't owe any money to Shop Direct, but yesterday Clearscore reported that my existing account was being removed and a new one added.
Yesterday I also received an email from Very (Shop Direct) to tell me that the Very credit account is being rebranded as Very Pay.
I assume that the 2 are connected and that it won't "reset" the date of your default - you'll know for sure when the "new" account starts reporting to the CRA's.1 -
You can't "relist" a debt - if it defaulted 6 years ago, it MUST be removed - the only way it could be added was with a CCJ being issued by someone if done before the 6 years is out.1

I would strongly advise you not to pay heed to clear score alerts, as they tend to be very generic, and most of the time completely wrong.
Accounts cannot default twice, and cannot be "re-listed", the ICO would have kittens if such things were allowed to happen.
Check your file on the 3 main credit reference agency websites, see what is listed there.
If, by some quirk of fate it has been re-registered, then send a complaint to shop direct, and be prepared to escalate the matter to the ICO.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
