Can someone under 60 buy an over 60 retirement flat to rent out to someone over 60 ?

Can someone under 60 buy an over 60 retirement flat to rent out to someone over 60 ?  I am over 60 and living in one , and want to sell - someone wants to buy it to rent out to an older person he is friends with.

Should be OK - I was looking into buying a retirement flat for my Mum some years ago, no issues then but I guess some developments will have their own criteria. What does the lease say?

There aren't universal rules, it depends on the conditions for your flat - have you read them?

I am staying at my girlfriends and do not have a copy of the lease , so cannot see the conditions.   I rented out the flat for two years to an old chap before I moved in , and that was allowed - but do not know if you can buy one while under 60.  As far as I am aware you can be left one ( parent dies and leaves to young family)  - and while you cannot then move in you are not forced to sell - you can put in an elderly tenant --- but do not know if you are actually allowed to buy one while aged under 60 to rent out !

Unfortunately we can't see the conditions of your lease either.

I'm at home, with my wife, and I can’t see the lease, either. :)

    Reading the lease would help.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
