Bathroom towels, a load per week.
For me its a habit I picked up from working in a kitchen, tea towels get used for everything other then drying dishes. taking pots of the stove, pates out of the warmer, food in and out of the oven, wiping up spills, cleaning work surfaces - just use a tea towel . Soon as it gets a mark on it, chuck it in the laundry basket and grab a clean one0 -

I use tea towels, kitchen hand towel, dishcloth and oven gloves for the purposes you described and wash each as appropriate. 😉0 -
For me I do two loads a week in summer & three in the winter.
Everything gets mixed in together. Single bedding.
I change all bedding weekly apart from duvet cover in winter, because it is covered by a top blanket, also because the tog is heavy and I can't face the struggle to change it weekly!
Winter needs 3 loads because of big fleecy dressing gowns
So at the moment:
Load 1 (Tuesday) is bath towel, duvet cover, pjs, undies & socks, any tea towels plus clothes.
Load 2 (Thursday) is sheets, pillowcase, Zumba clothes, pjs undies, socks, hand towel, face cloth, any tea towels.
Unless something is obviously dirty, sweaty or smelly it gets worn at least three times, excluding knickers & socks which get changed daily.
I wear my pj's a lot hence washing two sets a week, I put clean ones on Mon & Thurs pm.
I don't have whites as such and never had a problem with colours running as my white and cream bras testify.
My laundry days are fixed as I don't live alone so we share the drying space.0 -

Also I like to wash them separately from other washing (half load 60 degrees) and if they sit around any more than a week they risk getting very icky, so washing a few dozen isn't that much bother. Husband's granny kindly keeps buying us tea towels so we have loads of them.
What I dislike much more than any other wash is the husband's sock wash. Every few weeks I wash all his socks separately (half wash 40 degrees) because they are so stinky they honestly stink up the clothing if I wash them with our normal loads (it took me a while to figure out what was causing that). I'd rather just set them on fire but that would be wasteful...Debt Pay-off

There are 2 adults in our household and I probably do 5 to 6 loads a week:
- Towels
- Bedding
- Darks + Colours
- Whites
- Sports stuff
- Cleaning cloths / tea towels
I'm happy to re-ware stuff (apart from knickers) but DH is a one and done kind of guy for everything so we sometimes have 2 dark / colour loads a week. I have to wash sports stuff separately because I sweat A LOT when I go running or do any kind of workout and DH plays cricket so gets covered in grass from diving for balls. Didn't always used to be like this - we didn't have a washing machine in our last place and had no room to plumb one in but luckily lived across the road from a launderette where we just ended up doing one big wash of clothing a week and another of towels and bedding because that stuff is expensive!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -
Gosh I must be a messy mare, it's rare for me to use 2 tea towels in a week......... Most stuff goes in the dishwasher, and what gets hand washed is left on the rack to dry. We have one wash of towels, another of sheets/duvet covers plus one each for whites, lights and darks for 2 of us.
