Smart Meter altering daily readings
I have been recording the daily consumption readings from the remote display into a spreadsheet. Earlier this week I realised the readings from early June this year had changed. Not being able to prove I have miss recorded the daily readings I have continued to recorde the daily readings and when I checked today all the daily readings, gas and electric, are now different. As I know I triple checked that values I I had transcribed into my spreadsheet I am 100% certain that the daily readings have been changed. These should not change as they should be a historical fact. Changes are always increases and can be over 0.5KWHr and cumulatively over a week the increases can be over 5KWHr.
Is this a known problem?

I know the remote display has no status but I now have little confidence in the smart meter system. Should I demand an old analogue meter?

No, you have not entitlement to an analogue meter, also they are no longer manufactured.
Consider the IHD indicative of your usage and not the gospel truth.
The smart meter will send the correct readings back to their server, so check your online account for usage not the IHD.0 -

Where exactly are you getting your readings from? The only true source is the actual smart meter indexes. This is what the supplier uses to bill you not what is sent via the HAN to your IHD.
FWiW, I am with Octopus Energy and their daily consumption figures change after 24 hours. Why - because they extract data from my meters once every 24 hours - in summer - on GMT not local time. It follows that my consumption for yesterday will be correct tomorrow. Gas is also a problem as the comms hub establishes a proxy which uses a fixed calorific value. Actual bills are based on the average CV during the billing period.
In sum, there is nothing underhand going on here. Smart metering is no different to their non smart metering cousins as far as recording actual usage is concerned.1 -
