Gmail layout on iPad help.

So my DW did an update and now the Gmail layout is not good. the Apple help says...


But there is no 'Inbox type"  in the drop down list on settings...

Given you are using the Google Gmail app its really for Google to give you advice given they developed and maintain the app. 

You can use the Apple Mail client (or any other) to read your Gmail if you dont fancy reaching out to Google for customer support.

I have several email accounts all set up in Apple Mail including Gmail. I find it ideal, very flexible and powerful once you get the hang of all its options and settings, plus Cloud synchronisation across several Apple devices. Good at dealing with spam that gets past Google's own checks and blocking unwanted senders too. No need for anything else.

Tap the ‘burger’ (3-line icon), tap Settings (Cog), tap the email account you want to change the style of, then ‘Inbox type’ is on the list on the next screen.

You missed out the step that says:
3. Choose your account

No inbox type!
