USB not reading in 2017 Citroen C4 GP Flair

Normally stream music from my phone to the vehicle i.c.e system but there's a facility to also plug a USB in so that whatever is on the stick comes up on the display, all the albums and tracks etc.
But I've tried to load all my old tracks off my laptop onto the new 128gb flash drive
(high speed USB 2.0, MS 8.1 + MS 10
So when I've downloaded the tracks onto the USB stick if I check the content on the laptop its all there, but take it out to the car and it recognises a USB has been plugged in but then quickly says 'unable to read
Any ideas how to rectify this situation?
Your help is appreciated.

Hi    as far as I can see they are mp3s?
Would i be right in saying the flash drive would be supplied in
exFAT32 format and has to be put into FAT32 or the later NTFS type?  But basically for me it's trying to find out how the car system reads something like that?  But there's me just thought I could put some songs on a stick and play them alongside streaming but ho hum?
  • I believe it needs to beFAT32 and perhaps MP4 instead MP3

Most cars I've had used Fat32 and MP3 files, but usually recognise wma, .aac, .flac, .ogg and. mp3

I bet the issue is the size of the USB key. An older head unit probably simply doesn't recognise a drive as big as 128Gb.

Try fewer tracks on a smaller key.

Have the same car but never tried the USB, just use Bluetooth streaming... Mind you, I did use it once, to update the maps.

But good points so far, I would try a USB drive of max 32 GB and formatted as FAT32. That's most likely to work.
