I was going to use grout but read that isn't great due to expansion of the wood. I have some PVA glue but it's water soluble. What to use...?

Or am I better off getting a bit of slate or something.

Try looking at the mosaic mentoring group on Facebook.
lovely people there who will advise.

They don’t seem keen on working on wood as it expands and contracts with variations in heat…. And I’m pretty sure they do not recommend using grout as adhesive.
But I’m not an expert so really don’t know which product would work.

from what I can see they say if for indoor prime with 1/2 water 1/2 wood glue and then use thinset to adhere.
outside they work on wediboard, not wood.

Thanks. I've decided to put this one on a bit of brick, not ideal but I think it should last.
