And any normal person will see the issue was resolved and be happy about that, rather than causing a fuss.stressedout45 said:Crikey. I have not read the entire thread but get the gist of it.. I hope you never want to sell your house otherwise you are going to have to declare that you have gone to environmental health! Personally I would have just left it and excepted it is one of those things of living in a built-up area with businesses nearby.
Read the rest of the thread - it's not a normal noise for the fan to make so it's clearly broken, and the council are getting them to fix it.

After much persistence and some thinly-veiled threats of formal action from the council, the b*stards have finally sorted out the fan! This one's for all the doubters

Just out of interest are those still the readings you took with a mobile app or are they readings confirmed by the council using calibrated equipment?

Hi lapaillade90, I’m interested to know what the resolution was from the council. My partner and I are in a very similar situation and interested in knowing what our options are. For context there is a restaurant that backs onto the row of gardens, 4 doors down and we have a constant humming sound, around 50dB in our garden. We’ve spoken to the restaurant about it who said the extractor fan was working fine and didn’t suggest anything wrong with it. Although, when we recorded the sound from our phones from a meter away the app recorded - 70-80dB.lapaillade90 said:After much persistence and some thinly-veiled threats of formal action from the council, the b*stards have finally sorted out the fan!
