Pet Insurance - what constitutes a pre-existing condition?

When our dog was a year old he stated limping a bit intermittently, so we took him to the vet and he had x-rays done.
Nothing showed up on the x-rays and he has been fine ever since - this was three years ago.
My question is even though nothing was found to be wrong, would an insurance company class this as a pre-existing condition?
Also, are there any other insurance companies apart from Bought By Many who disregard any problems after 24 months if no treatment has been needed in that time? I would like to get a few alternative quotes, but most companies say they will not cover anything that a dog has seen a vet for prior to taking out a policy with them.

Yes that would be classed as a pre existing condition.

A per existing condition is anything you have consulted a vet about or mentioned to a vet, whether or not any treatment was prescribed,
Petplan will consider removing exclusions after 2 years with no recurrence but it will depend on what the condition was and what the vet report says.
Others may also do so.
You need to speak to the underwriters and get it in writing if they agree.1 -

Petplan can discount after a certain amount of time, depending on what information the vet gives them but it’s based on individual circumstances not a blanket rule. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.1 -
