Bosch washing machines - waste outlet guide

I read a review which said that Bosch machines do not come with this U-shaped outlet guide. Does anyone know if this is true? I’ve tried their customer services but they seemed unsure.

My Bosch washer came with it bundled with the hoses and things. If it's missing, they're only a couple of pounds to buy but they're not strictly needed if you can loop the hose over something or suspend it from something above.2

Same here, though I've never needed to use it as there's a connection built into the plumbing under the sink like the bottom right-hand picture in that photo. I think probably these are now so commonly fitted as standard that there's often no need for the u-shaped holder.

If it’s going in a stand pipe just cable tie it to that1

I’ll be getting either Curry’s or Argos to install it and my worry is that if this part is missing, they will bodge it and leave the hose sitting in the outlet pipe, unsecured. I don’t want a flood later down the line. I’m not strong enough to move this machine and check it after they leave.I also spoke to Curry’s and the guy went and checked the Bosch machine they had on the floor. He said it didn’t have this part and he believed that none of the Bosch ones do but all the other brands include it. I’m not sure if he’s correct. He seemed very keen on Samsung and kept telling me how good they are so I got the feeling they just have a load of Samsungs they would like rid of and he wanted me to choose that instead. It’s this review that made me wonder. It’s quite recent so maybe Bosch have only recently started to leave out this part. Or else this guy is just wrong.0

If there's a syphon already there, then it's a non-issue.Secondly - if you do need one and it doesn't come with one, you can buy one for a couple of quid. They're certainly widely available online, and doubtless also at any of the DIY sheds or a local plumbers merchant.Third point - if you don't trust the retailer to install it correctly, and you don't have the strength to do it yourself, do you have a friend/neighbour/family member who could do it in exchange for a cup of tea and a few Custard Creams? As long as the plumbing is already in place, a washing machine is a doddle to fit - although it is, as you say, just heavy to lug around.

@Ebe_Scrooge Yes, there is an open top stand pipe so I think this bracket is needed.I could buy one but I have no way to know in advance if I need to and it’s too late once the delivery guys arrive. With social distancing, I can’t hover around them to see what way they install the drain hose and once they’re finished, I can’t move the machine to check. There are a couple of people I could ask to help but I’ve learnt from past experiences not to bother as they will take months to ‘get round to it’ and they don’t know what they’re doing. I’ve already had to deal with leaking at the back of the washing machine because they didn’t tighten things up properly (which seemed very simple).0

OK. Well, to take a pragmatic approach, why not just buy one in advance then? If the machine doesn't come supplied with one, problem solved. If it does come with one, you've wasted a couple of quid. I know this is a money-saving site, but there comes a point where the avoidance of aggro and worry is worth spending a pound or two on :-)2

Are they a standard size/shape? I was worried that they might be model-specific.Maybe it’d be easier to just go for a different brand. This Bosch is a lot of hassle.0
