O/S Daily Tuesday 15 June 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, I'm showered, dressed and I'm enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS1 gone to for work. DS2 settled and happy.
Cloudy start to the day but still quite bright. Air feels a bit cooler. I have a small wash load to peg out, will do that shortly.
Dinner last night was HM med. veg tart (some LO's), saute hot new pots, boiled egg, ham, pork pie (menfolk), salad, coleslaw, potato salad - all eaten and enjoyed. Tonight will be LO's from Sunday's roast - I'll add some veg and gravy.
Yesterday work was manic as ever, I'm on a course all day today so that should be something different.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC.It's a sunny start here, yesterday was mostly grey and cool.I'll be out early today for a hospital appointment, then what the rest of the day holds is a mystery, who knows what delights are in store.Yesterday was just the usual jobs and a bit of shopping, I was tired after two bad nights, so didn't kill myself with housework. Our Tuesday night quiz starts again tonight, whoo hoo - it re started briefly last year, then had to be stopped again, so we are looking forward to that.Hope everyone has a good Tuesday, take care folks.14

Morning folks.
It's a dull start here with the promise of rain later. ☹️Yesterday gave me good bits and not so good bits. The gardener started work in my place and sent me photos, what a joy to see clear soil, my ancient rose back upright and the structure of planting back in place. My favourite flowers are about to blossom (inula hookeri) too.The less good bit was the visit by the valuer from the auction house. He was a lovely older gentleman who tried to soften a series of blows about the value of some of DM's things. He explained very well how life has changed in recent years in terms of interior design and jewellery. They can sell a piece worth £20,000 more easily than a £500 one. Anyway, I consigned some paintings, jewellery and furniture, they won't raise a fortune but will be reused, recycled and reduce landfill.Today will be a full one. The junk team is coming to remove a load of stuff. The cleaner is coming to do some work, a neighbour is coming to get up the big ladder to clean the tops of the lampshades (he's very tall and the ceilings are 12 foot high here) and amongst all that the props company is collecting the old three piece suite. I may need a glass of grape juice in the evening.Enjoy your quiz night Scarlet. 🎉My thoughts are with our poorlies. Happy Tuesday to all.13 -
Morning All
Overcast this morning and not as warm as it has been, the washing is on the pulley as it looks like it may rain.
What a busy day Gers, so glad your garden can be restored.
Happy quizzing Scarlett.
Swimming last night was great, not too many folk in, probably due to the football (they were probably drowning their sorrows!) so didn't have to dodge anyone. I have new microfibre towels but they don't seem to dry me the same, more move the water about!
Hope you all have a good Tuesday, hugs to those in need. Take care. XX13 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
I haven't posted for ages we spent two weeks moored in a place with no phone, Wi-Fi or tv signal but it was such a beautiful spot we stayed on. We moved on Sunday, we now have a good signal but when I went back to get my car it had been vandalised, the window smashed and central locking unit has been ripped out. I'm still trying to sort it all out.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester.Chin up, Titus out.12 -
Morning, Hugs if you need them.
Gers sorry there was not such good news re your Mums belongings, pleased to hear that the gardener is doing a good job for you.
Hester, I was so sorry to read that your car has been vandalised, I hope you are able to get it back on the road, especially as you had just had it MOT'd.
I woke at 4am and have been dozing on and off since. Took DB to the Drs. The people before us were in for almost 3/4 of an hour. DB was sitting on a chair but I had to stand. Eventually we got in the see the Dr. She took a good look at DB's ankle, we have to keep it covered as I expected. She gave me a script for more dressings. She was more concerned about DB's palpitations, which came on whilst we were waiting, she is referring him back to the cardiologist. To say she was not happy was putting it mildly. However the palps cleared about 8pm last night.
Had to water the garden last night, everything is so dry and the ground has cracked, will possibly need to do them again on Thursday if it does not rain.
Supper tonight chicken and bacon pasta, will cook enough of the chicken for two suppers and freeze it. Strawberries for supper. DB pick a bowl full last night.

I've woken up with an awful migraine this morning - taken a tablet so hopefully it will be a bit better by the time I go to work at lunchtime. I need to go into town this morning to collect a prescription and have some ironing to do.
Little one came for tea last night, she was very excited as she had a medal and a sticker - for doing her first sponsored walk - 3 laps of the nursery garden! It hadn't tired her out at all - she was bouncing round everywhere. We had a 'discussion' over whether she would fit in one of the kitchen cupboards - I went to the loo - for all of 2 minutes - when I came back through the plastic boxes from the cupboard were on the floor and she'd squashed most of herself into the cupboard. 'Me does fit granny!'

Morning all.
Gers, I'm sorry about the disappointment about your mother's furniture. I've been there! My home was almost all equipped with antiques, both inherited and acquired. By the time I had to sell them to move into a smaller, more modern house the bottom had fallen out of the market. It was explained to me that people didn't want 'brown' furniture any more.
The last thing I sold was an 18thC chest of drawers, all beautifully inlaid, that after the auction fees etc were covered, gave me back exactly what I had paid for it 60 years ago.
I will be glad when it gets a bit cooler, I find hot weather pretty trying.
Sorry all you sun lovers.
I'm in and out all day today and am about to have a hearty breakfast, as after that it will be eating what and when I can.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. I'm late to the party this morning - my lappie decided to do an update earlier and it takes forever, then another forever configuring it. It's advanced in years and takes a long time to do anything - a bit like me!!
It was beautiful first thing but has now clouded over. The sun is supposed to return so fingers crossed. All the pots at the back are looking bone dry again and I can't decide if they will hang on for the thunderstorms we have forecast for tomorrow night or whether I should water them again this morning.
HESTER rotten news about your car. Some years ago our central locking was vandalised and all for nowt as nothing was taken! CDs were scattered all over the car but none were missing, nor were any of the bags of sweeties.
GERS whilst watching all the antique shows on tv just now, it's become common to hear that lots of stuff has decreased in value over the years as it's no longer in fashion. It's such a shame watching some beautiful items being sold for a pittance. Let's hope DM's stuff does well.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, poorly loved ones and those with worries and woes. Take care x

Morning all,Looks like being a brighter day, at least there's some blue sky.I am off out at lunchtime to meet a friend, we're going to have a bite to eat, and possibly a bit of shopping,so that'll be a nice change.I spoke to my SisIL last night, my brother went back to work yesterday after 5 months off with Covid, he was having a shower so didnt speak to him.She said he was tired, but had a nice welcome back with people pleased to see him which gave him a boost.Hester, how annoying about your car - some people
!
Shame about the furniture Gers, we had the same problem with my Gran's stuff a few years ago,it all ended up being taken by a house clearance co. ,apart from a little chest with double doors you opened to find about 6 drawers. It has a fancy brass plate with initials on top and dated 1876.She bought it at a house sale and always said it used to belong to a sea captain. She always kept her sewing and knitting needles etc . in it. I keep important papers like birth certificates and stuff like that.Csarina-, that was a bit of a wait at the docs - hope they sort the palpitations soon.Right better get some housework done before I go out, have good days all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
