hi there, so i am planning to invest in this sector.
it's a bit riskier, but i feel this is the way the world is still going to go, despite the surge during the pandemic.
and it's definitely one for the longer haul. i imagine at least a few years,
i'd be interested to hear your views.

What do you mean by automation exactly? To me automation is the move away from manual labour to machinery. Not sure it's easy to invest in that specifically.
Or do you mean the car industry?0 -
I think OP could be referring to the niche sector of Robotics and Automation, for example the L&G Robo Global Robotics and Automation UCITS ETF: https://fundcentres.lgim.com/uk/en/fund-centre/ETF/ROBO-Global-Robotics-and-Automation/El_Torro said:What do you mean by automation exactly? Or do you mean the car industry?"If you aren’t willing to own a stock for ten years, don’t even think about owning it for ten minutes” Warren Buffett

Automation is nothing new.0

I'm holding my figure in the air, but I'm not sure which way the "automation wind" is blowing. As with any investment you need to plan for a 50% loss as well as a 50% gain, do you know what you will do in those circumstances? I'd stick with a global equity tracker rather than betting on an individual sector.“So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.”0

thanks for your input. yes it is the L & G fund which one of the above posters put. it just tracks the ROBO global index.
i do see your points... there is a risk for sure (as with anything)..... but maybe potential for a higher reward too. as essentially it is a small-mid cap fund but only buying automation manufacturing companies (and yes it's a wide scope).
if i do it would be via a SIPP so there is less temptation to withdraw.
whilst i want to invest the money reasonably quickly.... i won't rush into it .0
