So I'm "upgrading" from Nationwide Flex to Flex Plus, but they want to do it on a new account number/sort code.
Do they have the wherewithall to somehow notify all my DD holders of the new details? If I have to manually do it, it'll be the death of me!
So far they've been unable to hale except suggesting that I "pop in" to a local branch. Unfortunately for me "popping in" is massively inconvenient, especially if all it results in is the answer "No"!
Cheers all!

If not, you could always solve the problem by switching away to another bank and then back again - but I accept that this is hardly desirable. It rather sounds to me as if you had the misfortune to talk to an inexperienced/undeucated member of staff. Maybe it'd be worth raising the same question, and raising the CASS comparison, through the online banking messaging?2

That exact thought occurred to me and I suggested it to them. They said that all they do is write to all the companies giving them the new details. I don't know if this is an official protocol that is executed semi-automatically, or if it's just done in hope rather than expectation!
Worst comes to the worst, I won't actually use the new account, but just set up a standing order from Flex to FlexPlus with the monthly.STOP PRESS!
They've now said that they *CAN* make it a pure upgrade, so I keep my old account number. So I should cancel the new FlexPus account and then start again from scratch.0 -
OK, so the advice I was given on the phone was good and so I was able to upgrade my Flex to Flex plus and retain account number.sort code. Goodness knows what I did the first time that resulted in a new account, but it's all sorted now. No need to "pop in" anywhere!
It still annoys me that the social media team give lazy advice, but I guess that's just modern life for you!

well done for sorting it, but just to answer your original question - no they are unable to move your direct debits from account A to account B, even if they close account A
No.idea why not...0 -

eskbanker said:Although it's now moot, a potential workaround would be to do a CASS switch from Nationwide Flex Account to non-Nationwide account C, then another CASS switch back to Nationwide Flex Plus! Possibly more hassle than manually shifting DDs though....As I suggested earlier.blue.peter said:If not, you could always solve the problem by switching away to another bank and then back again - but I accept that this is hardly desirable.
