Is there a point to the Barclaycard app or site if I already have Barclays app and site?

Or did I just waste 20 minutes? Is the Barclaycard app and site intended for people without a Barclays current account? I received my credit card and it appears in the regular Barclays app just fine. Barclays brochures implies the Barclaycard app has more features and one of the brochures specifically says to use the Barclaycard app. What is then very confusing is during registration the app says to only register using the credit card if you don't a current account. This suggests these apps are different, otherwise the obvious message
would be to tell the user to download the Barclays app instead. So I registered the Barclaycard app using my debit card. To me it works and looks identical to the regular Barclays app. Is there a section I missed that is different? Seems identical except now I have a second app with its own PIN. So was there no point for me to install the Barclaycard app? I actually first registered to the Barclaycard online website but that couldn't log me on saying "Sorry, there's been a problem with our system. We're currently unable to log you in. Please try again later."

Both exactly the same, as far as I know. I seem to remember getting a message telling me if I had one, I didn't need the other.
Edit: actually, just remembered that, if you want an instant notification of transactions on your current account, they don't show in the Barclaycard app.I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.0 -
I have both. But I only use the Barclays App. Does the exact same job.My family, they all have Barclaycards but bank somewhere else. So they are forced to use the Barclaycard App.0

The apps used to be different, but now they're identical.0

The Barclaycard app is better than the Barclays app because it allows customers without a Barclays current account to use it. Barclays should rename the Barclaycard app to Barclays and retire the current Barclaycard app. I can't comment on the Barclaycard website as that too did not work for me. Barclays website works fine so I don't know what the problem was but always some message about not being able to log me in. Barclays needs some serious work on product consolidation and improved communication.

Barclaycard and Barclays apps are in essence the same thing but the app has very little functionality for the credit card. The websites however are very different.
Barclays is a banking website with all the functionality you would expect of a banking website and Barclaycard is a credit card website with the functionality you would expect of a credit card website.
The Barclaycard website has different login credentials (nine digit username with six digit passcode) than the Barclays Bank website (twelve digit username with five digit passcode) which I would assume is down to historical reasons, it's essentially the same site it's always been.
Whilst full integration with Barclays would be nice, being separate is not bad either as their is no overlap on functionality. I do also wonder whether the TSB debacle makes the people who make that decision nervous about "fixing" something that essentially is not broken.0
