NHBC warranty just expired

Following an internal leak provisionally (but incorrectly) attributed to a recent storm, the insurers have sent some roofers up to my roof. They did not pinpoint any storm damage but did identify "shoddy workmanship" on the roof that is likely to have been responsible for the water ingress . The roofer thought it would normally be a candidate for repair under the NHBC warranty. However, I have only been in the house a few months, and its 10 year warranty expired in Dec 2020 (whilst the conveyancing was going on). I am wondering if there is any chance that my plea to the developer for a repair, might be heard. My argument is that the workmanship would have been shoddy the day the house was completed, just as it is now, over 10 years later. It is not like an issue with the foundations that could take years to manifest itself.

Never hurts to ask but from hearsay you've probably more chance of building a snowman in hell than getting a thing out of the NHBC (even inside warranty).I'll assume you didn't have the "full" additional survey carried out at point of purchase? If you did that may be a point of recourse.0
