    Baking soda doesn't dissolve limescale - as was rightly pointed out in the second reply here.
    It's school chemistry, not even university.

    I use citric acid to deal with limescale in my kettle (which is cheap and very effective).

    However, it's not the most MSE, but based on my own recent experience - (20 years of limescale in pipes) I'd do the water jet drain descale again, it was relatively quick, effective, and almost certainly better for the environment than pouring brick acid down your drains.
