Selling a used car that needs wirk

I would clearly list it as "For Repair".
List all the faults known.
Make it VERY clear that it is being advertised at that price because it needs that work. You will get some clowns trying to chip you back from the price your advertising it at because it needs the work.
eg, you advertise it at £1,000 you will get clowns offering you £500 "because it needs all that work, mate"

Exactly this. Whoever is buying the car is taking on a huge risk that (a) they'll be able to repair it and (b) it'll work out cheaper than just buying a good one. A dealer would be looking to clear £1000 on it, so even with £500 in used parts and using free time the most they'd be willing to pay would be £800ish. £500 is more reasonable because it wouldn't take much for the £500 in parts to become £1000 in parts if anything else goes wrong. You wanting rid of it rather than repairing it will also add to the suspicion - what do you know that means you don't want to pay to fix it?AdrianC said:
Well, you ain't going to be able to sell it for £1,300 in the current state...lmsi80 said:It's worth probably £2500 and the minimum cost to sort it would be about £1200 if we sourced used parts
You might, if you're lucky, get £500.The used car market is pretty decent at the moment so you won't have any problem selling it after repairs and diesels will always sell well, so I wouldn't worry about it.Of course, if it's £1200 to repair and that gets you a car you know then I'd be inclined to repair it and use it because £1200 isn't going to get you much in a replacement car.
