In insurance terms we'd call it a disturbance allowance, there is no set mechanism of calculation as it depends on the extent of the problems it causes but at the most extreme end its generally something like £10/day/adult and £5/day/child if the property is basically uninhabitable (this is the rate used by the Financial Ombudsman); obviously in your case it was only the kitchen facilities that were hampered and you still had running water, bathrooms etc.
The second consideration is how many days they are on the hook for, as already said, there is likely to be force majeure clauses at play and so their liability for the period the government told them they legally cannot work shouldn't be considered in the same light as those where its their own fault that the problems persisted .
