Electricity Meters
First time I have done this - so apologies if it ends up in the wrong section.
My daughter has a house with two electricity meters in, the energy company says it would have to be one bill for each meter, which means two bills and two daily standing charges.
I have spoken to a few different companies and they all say, one bill for one meter.
A local electrician says it would be expensive to convert to one meter.
Any suggestions ?
Many thanks, Phil

Hi,
Just replying to this thread as I can't see how to start a new one! Hope that's okay.
I'm trying to pinpoint why our electricity usage has soared recently. Looking at our meter (photo attached), there is a 'normal' light and next to it an '800 pulses/KWh' light. The normal light is on constantly, but the 800 one is blinking fairly regularly. Does this indicate anything bad? (over normal leccy use, perhaps)?
Any help much appreciated,
G

Hi,the normal always on is normal, that is what you are on.The faster the pulse flashes the more you are using.Edit: you are on a single rate tariff?0

You can see the "ow" from the word "Low" right next to the sticker at the top of the meter face. Under that sticker there are a second set of numbers which are no longer used. There will be red lights next to "Low" and "Normal"; these illuminate to show which rate your meter is using. As you've got a single-rate meter the "Normal" light will be permanently illuminated and the "Low" light will never glow. The 800/kWh light will, as it says, flash 800 times for every kilowatt-hour you use. This is also normal. Can you give more info on your soaring electricity usage? How long has it been going on for, and exaclty how bad is it?N. Hampshire, he/him.
