Property information form - building work

The property I am planning to buy was extended before the vendors bought it. On the building works section of the property information form they have said “No” for the “Has any building works been carried” section.
Should they still answer yes to this even if the extension was in place when they bought it? If so what should they provide me with?

It doesn't really matter what they tell you on the form - if you know there's an extension then presumably your surveyor has already noted that anyway (or will do), and your solicitor can ask for anything that's relevant.
How old is the extension?0 -
It’s at least 5 years old. I’ve not arranged the survey yet. Will they or the solicitor be able to tell me if it’s meets building regulations if the vendor can’t?0

The surveyor should tell you whether there's anything obviously wrong with it (which after 5 years is more important than whether it's got paperwork).0

If it wasn't built when they lived there then they don't have to provide any paperwork.
You can look on your local council website to see building regs applications. Normally under building control or similar to see if it was signed off.
Although as @user1977 said - your surveyor will provide good insight.0
