Can I add credit to my account to make a purchase bigger than my credit limit?

    Ask the card issuer if that's ok, and if they refuse, ask the retailer if they will split the payment across two cards.

    If the trader is willing to take a hit from the credit card company with the fees that they will charge him then you could argue that the car is overpriced.

    And they do.
    I got caught out as by paying manually they didn't take a direct debit, then they bounced the payment, which meant I got charged interest.

    What I did when buying a car was make a large payment on my card, paid some of it off and paid for the rest of the price of the car.  Ok so I only get 0% for a portion (in your case it would be £4900) but if there are also points or cash back you'll get that for the entire amount spent.  Your alternative would be to do a BT to another 0% card should you have one.
