Ryanair flight change fee…

Booked our flights after getting a refund in May last year, turns out the 0 flight change fee promo is from June last year, so we’ve had to pay to change it once from Spain to Portugal and now have to pay again since it’s turned to Amber otherwise we lose £650 of flights, surely this can’t be fair Ryanair won’t even give us a credit note so we can book when safe to do so, £360 in flight changes is a bit unfair if everybody else is getting it free because they booked a week later…

  • You were happy to book under those conditions. It’s understandable you would prefer the free flight change but there’s nothing unfair about them sticking to the conditions you booked under.
Presumably you wouldn’t complain it was unfair that those who booked later than you paid more for their flights. This is no different.
  • You presumed wrong, flight prices should be the same until the flight is fully booked in my opinion. Flight change fees should be the same in my opinion.
  • You may be best trying to find an airline that does that then.

That's simply not how airlines work I am afraid.  Pricing has been fluid for some years.  Each seat can and does potentially sell at a different price.  The so called low-cost airlines started this model twenty plus years ago with fare buckets.  There might be 10 x seats at one price and prices increases as sales come through or demand tapers. The last seats selling for x10+ times the price of the first fare bucket.  If Ryanair and Easyjet adopted your model of all seats at the same price you and thousands of others would not be enjoying flying to Europe for €9-€59.

This is why you don’t own a successful airline :)
    That model just doesn’t work.
