Should I buy a house with subsidence?
Comments
-
I have experience of selling a house that had underpinning after subisdence (lived in the property when it was found and whilst it was repaired), it wasn't an old property though (which I think people have more sympathy for), the whole process was stressful panicking about whether the buyers were going to get an in depth survey, whether anything would show up, whether they'd have second thoughts etc. I understand you are the buyer, but from a sellers perspective I'd honestly say it's not worth it. You are in no mans land at the moment as you don't have information to say whether it is or isn't subsidence.
Insurance will be an issue if it is subsidence and hasn't been fixed, if you can't get buildings insurance on it then the mortgage company will not lend.
When you get insurance the question will be has the house ever suffered from subsidence, you cannot honestly answer no as your report says it might have it.28th April - MIP submitted and issued
