Returning Amazon gift card

I was given an Amazon gift card to purchase Prime but I have discovered Amazon do not accept gift cards as a payment method for Prime. Is it possible to get a refund on the gift card? I would greatly appreciate if anyone who knows this before I or my generous buyer makes a possible wasted trip to Tesco.

Guessing from this it was purchased by a friend instore.
Tesco exclude gift cards from their instore returns policy.

So you would be buying things anyway. Just sue it for that.

Not necessarily. They might just be buying prime for the video and music content and not intending to purchase anything else. However, that seems very unlikely as I can’t imagine that there are too many people who don’t use Amazon, even very occasionally (and I think the gift cards are valid for 10 years)

Even if they never use Amazon as such.
They stock enough 'day to day' type items you could use up the credit on stuff you would buy anyway IMO

I wanted to continue with Prime for the video, reading and music content. I have used Prime to have the free delivery but not that often. My relative who bought the gift card for me, has said I can keep it for the when I do purchase something. Yes, gift cards are valid for 10 years, so I've got plenty of time to purchase non Prime things :) I could easily spend the gift card in 2 minutes on things I could do with :)
