  • Late to the table today, rather a fraught morning started at around 8.30 When DB yelled he was bleeding, yes he was and he trailed it all the way through the bedroom, hall and into the wet room. I had no idea where it was coming from when I realised that his sock was oozing........he has had a varicose vein on his ankle for a number of years, it had burst, when I took his sock down it was like a fountain. Good job I do not panic, he was panicking for two!! I phoned the surgery after I had given  him a towel and told him to press down on it. Dr said if it did not stop within an hour, I was to ring back. Fortunately it stopped, I got him onto the bed with his leg elevated. Ended up having to take him down to the surgery he has it dressed, has to go back on Thursday and then again on Monday. The mess was horrendous. I did manage to get the stain out of the hall carpet, hosed down the wet room and put his socks and trousers in to soak in cold water with some salt in., I eventually put them in the washer, his stuff and the towel have come out ok, my top is a different matter. Its going to have to go in the bin, as is the bedroom carpet. There is a £200 excess on our insurance policy, so I may end up paying for it anyway.
If that wasn't enough two people from the council came, one chap to 'plaster the ceiling, excuse me??? and one to do the front door. I am exhausted.
Gers pleased to hear that things are going well with the clearing up, guess you will be watching TV to see if your mothers suite turns up, you never know. You now have a goal to aim for.

Deleted_User - that sounds like a lot of blood! Same about the carpet and top. Did he knock it? Hope your DB heals well. Mr F has varicose veins - always telling him to be careful.

  • Florenceem as far as I know he did not knock it, when it stopped bleeding I could see just a tiny hole the size of a pin !!!!!!, but there was a heck of a lot of the red stuff. He has to go and get it redressed on Thursday and then to see the Dr on Monday, just keeping the fingers crossed that we are able to go away.
