House sold, carpet damage?

So I sold my property a month or two ago, and currently just going through the legal process. I have a log burner in my living room and burned the carpet about a year ago when cleaning out the Ash. It's right in front of the log burner but I've always had a rug down there that covers it, so it's never particularly bothered me. (I take the rug up when cleaning it, but otherwise never really move it).
When I did the viewings of the property I had the rug down as part of the normal decor of the room and forgot about it tbh. I've just been reminded by it, after spilling some water on the rug. So the question I have is what should I do about it? Do I need to declare it to the buyer or? Do I need to pay for it to be replaced?
Thanks
Kyle

You have not sold the property yet. You have had an offer accepted. Until you exchange anyone can pull out.
The buyers will purchase the house as-is, it is up to them to conduct any investigations into what they are getting. You could let them know out of courtesy if you wish, but you have no legal need to do so. Chances are they will want to replace the carpets once they move in anyway.2 -
Just put it down on the fixture list, it should ask for condition, write something like, carpet near wood burner marked by ash, your solicitor will send you this paperwork in due course.

...include the rug (or substitute) in the fixtures and fittings list...?0

I have already sent back the fittings document already. I am happy to just leave the rug with it. I was more concerned about any repercussions afterwards if I didn't declare it or something0

You are under no obligation to declare any known faults or defects whatsoever. You simply have to be truthful when answering any questions asked, either verbally or in writing.
It's up to the buyer to make their own enquiries and inspections. No free lunch, and no free laptop1 -
When I moved in a thought it was kind of the previous owners to leave the rug in my girls room. Upon lifting said rug I found out why...to cover the inks stains. A bit annoying, but I just placed the rug back down to worry about later. End of the day I should have checked under the rug when viewing. At least the rug allowed me to sweep that problem under the carpet 😅 for a bit.

Honestly don't worry. In my new house I had plaster covering cracks in walls, cracks in floors, furniture covering damp, mattresses covering dodgy floorboards. So many carpet stains .....0
