Photographs of house

Hi all,
I am a little underwhelmed by the pictures my EA took of my house, they’re OK but don’t really make the most of the property in my opinion. Is it worth my while taking extra photos (and maybe a walk through video) and ask them to add them to the listing? If so is there any pitfalls or technical issues I should be aware of? I’m a reasonably competent photographer but not done stuff exactly like this before!

If you're dissatisfied with the service anyone has provided you, the first thing to do is to let them know, and give them the chance to put it right.
Ask them if they want you to take some extra photos, or if they want to take them themselves etc. Assuming you have a tie in period with them they will know you will have other EAs knocking at you door in week 4-6.
It might turn out you have a queue of viewers by the end of the week and the sub par photos turn out to be irrelevant.
I'd say it's best to give it a few weeks and give 'their way' a chance before pointing out what they might be able to do better.1 -
Walk through videos I think are great. But don't move so fast it makes viewers feel like they are on a ride at Alton Towers.
Again, decent photos really matter but make them relevant. We've got a house close to us for sale with 15 pictures, 5 of which are birds in his garden! If he cannot manage 15 decent images of a 3 bed detached with garden and parking, without resorting to Robins, he's got a problem!

I would expect a walk through video to be possibly counterproductive unless you have decent enough equipment to create the sort of smooth, wobble-free experience you get from the professionals. Speak to the agents in the first place anyway if you're not happy with what they've produced, I think they'd consider it a bit odd for you just to go off and do your own thing without referring to them (and might not want their listing to be "tainted" by your own pics!).2

I went back to my EA because I was happy with the video but not the pictures - they reshot them and also chose different angles. You won't do better unless you have the right equipment, but the EA is as incentivised as you to get the look right so speak to them about it, tell them the best angles. Be guided by the EA but don't get too precious about it as it comes down to viewings, not pictures. If you see anything that is in your power to change eg removing some furniture, repainting a wall etc, make sure it gets done.1

Tell them to come back and take them again and walk around with them checking where they take them and if bright enough/ok1
