One last comment because my latest correspondence from the manufacturer should get the retailer to act sensibly.
thanks all it’s been very helpful. Hopefully this should be the end of it. Thanks to the inherent reply above.from repairer
MSI have come back to us and advised that after an extensive search they do not have any suitable models in order to issue a replacement for you and that the only option is to proceed with the credit.
They have asked if you can check again with your retailer as they should be able to issue the refund to you, if they require the faulty unit returned in order to issue the refund then they will claim the cost back from MSI by returning the faulty item, if they don’t need the faulty unit back then the refund will be sent from MSI to the retailer to issue to you, so it isn’t them who is refunding you, it is MSI.

If the case has good air flow I'd supect a faulty PSU.

Case continues, Manufacturer wants to give me a refund, but the credit has to go through the distributor and the retailer. The retailer doesn't want to know refuses to respond to me now. Currently the repairer is trying to find a way with the manufacturer to exclude the retailer in crediting me my money back. Basically I'm not the only one that has motherboard faults with these PC's.0

Final resolution thanks to manufacturer and repairer. Retailer didn't want anything to do with it. End result the manufacturer sent me a much upgrade PC, it arrived yesterday. This is significantly better than the old one and a totally different model. Specification is a lot better. So thank you MSI and the MSI repairer.
I've done further checking on the retailer ( Tab Retail ) and they do not have a very good reputation for sorting problems. Saves me taking them to the small claims court.1
