Taking over Residents Management Company from Developers

Hi everyone, hoping someone has some experience of this.

I live on a small development of 27 freehold houses and 9 leasehold flats, and all owners are keen for the RMC to be transferred to us.  Currently the directors are still people within the company that financed the development (the actual developer went bankrupt), and they have appointed a related company as secretary according to the data on Companies House.
Myself and at least one other owner are willing to become directors and take over oversight of the communal aspects of the estate and budgets etc.  (with a Property Management Company looking after actual 'doing').

Both myself and another potential Director (we are both aware we will need to be elected) have contacted the developers about this, they are not exactly stonewalling but are not being much help in how we actually do this!   My Google fu has also malfunctioned and I can't seem to find out what the process is to actually do this on line .

Anyone done this and got any advice?

Thanks

Sally
