This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning folks. What a bright sunny day, it's lovely outside. My day yesterday was good. I'll come later to write more, I've just woken up.10

Now I feel awake. Funny how brushing teeth wakens the whole body.Yesterday was a real whirlwind of activity which mostly happened round me. 😀 Alan cleared out 99% of the stuff in one cupboard, cut up boxes and consigned most of it all to bin bags. Meanwhile the chap from Edinburgh, Mark, gathered together all the painting materials ( and there's much more than I thought ) and put them on the dining table. Not only that he then organised all the other stuff left in that cupboard properly into categories 🤣🤣 so I can now see what's left over. I did a tip run with the piles of cardboard. The two chaps certainly broke the back of two of my challenges in the flat. 🙏In the evening we decluttered a couple of bottles of wine with our evening meal. It was gone 3a.m before my head hit my pillow, I haven't talked so much for years and years. I thoroughly enjoyed it, still worn out but I'm going to head put in a wee while for bacon rolls.I hope everyone is doing OK. Happy Sunday to all.10

Morning folks and thanks GERS. I wish I had just woken up! This pesky cat is back to her dawn rising again and all week I have been woken up by a cat jumping on me at 4.00 a.m. These light mornings have a lot to answer for!
I thought Sundays were a day of rest but somehow they have ended up my busiest day. I have done battle with the SK bedding and the first load has been washed and the second load just gone in. We are not forecast much in the way of sun and drizzle is to follow come tea-time so I hope I get it all dry before then. I should have done it yesterday which was glorious and the afternoon saw me sitting in the garden reading.
I have defrosted a chicken breast joint for lunch so that will go in the oven shortly. Cauli cheese is going with it, along with roasties, peas and baby carrots. I have prepped enough so that there is leftovers to warm up. tomorrow.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, poorly loved ones and those with worries and woes. Take care all xx

Morning Hugs if you need one. Gers, that sounds like a really good day, so pleased you have some help and were able to relax with a 'couple of scoops' as Paul O'Grady would say.
Over cast morning, seem to have cloth between my ears this morning, not sure why I slept ok, maybe a bit heavily. DB is complaining about his right knee, it is a bit red and hot, think he might have burisitis he was kneeling a lot on Friday. Hey ho, just 2 weeks till we go on holiday, typical!!
I have a gammon joint cooking, veggies done for supper, will be out shortly to pick some rhubarb for a crumble. I have chicken crown to cook for supper.
Went over yesterday to check our handiwork from Friday, all looking good, rain is forecast later today, so I may not need to water.7 -
Morning all, thank you for my birthday wishes. I had a fantastic day with lots of presents and I was spoilt rotten. There was much laughter and the day was topped off by the DGC staying overnight. 😍Most of the tidying up has already been done already so it will be a quiet day just pottering around. There are still food leftovers in the fridge to pick at, so that will do for today. I've probably eaten too much in the last few days anyway, I've certainly blown the diet by having 2 pieces of the chocolate cake 😋Gers well done on the clearing out, it's certainly going on a pace.Take care and hugs to all.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently8

Morning all
Woke very earlly this morning with the birds singing it was just after 4I eventually managed to get back to sleep but was then late in getting up, no matter nothing urgent to do today. I have stripped the beds and got the bedding in the wm so will hang that out for a while it should dry well.
We went walking yesterday and got lostso we ended up walking 6 miles which is the longest I have walked since my op, 4 miles of it was uphill so I was very sweary by the time we got to the top of the south downs but the view was stunning and we sat and had a picnic of chicken salad sandwiches, we could see the Isle of Wight very clearly so I waved at Monnagran and Im sure I saw her waving back ! I was shattered last night and slept very well till the early hours.
Onto today we need to do a clean through this morning which wont take long between us, and then get out for another walk later. Will have a rummage in the freezer for dinner.
Gers glad you had a good day and managed to get a lot done xx
Have good days all xx8 -
Gers, it sounds like a lot of fun was had along with the hard work, good for you.
I've been quite ill the last two days with high temps etc, I slept through most of them. I had a covid test which thankfully was negative but it's been a bit of role reversal with Steve looking after me although I haven't had much appetite which is the reverse when Steve has one of his infections, he eats and eats.
So no news here, I'm still feeling a bit fragile but definitely on the mend, just taking it easy today.9 -
Yes it was me RR! I could see you quite clearly.
I'm now sitting with a coffee and sausage roll. My grandson has been over this morning, he has been staying with his Dad (DS2) and stepmum and sister. DS2 has just left to take him back on the ferry to his Mum. He is Austistic so can't travel alone. DGD has been left with me and they will collect her on the way back home. She is quite happy sitting at my desk looking every bit the efficient Secretary. She is 8. So far she has drawn me a cake shop, with all the prices and some at half price (WOW) and a credit card that I can swipe across the machine so that it is contactless.
A far cry from when I played shops as a child.
How times change.
Gers it makes all the difference having help when clearing, doesn't it? So glad that you are managing to have a bit of fun along the way.
It's just beginning to get a bit brighter over here. Perhaps we will see the sun yet.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Hi everyone
Been down to sit with dad this morning. Done his banking, ordered a couple of new books from Audible and sent an email to eldest DD - she's in Barcelona this weekend so dad was very confused as to how the email knew where to go.
I have ironing to do after lunch, including my bedding which will be dry now. Then I was planning to do some tidying in the front garden, but there's a black cloud looming, so we'll see. Other than that it will be reading either my Sunday Times or my book.
Gers - pleased you had help yesterday...and a good natter.
Snoozer - hope you feel better soon
I have my 2nd jab booked for Tuesday morning - I'm hoping I'm better than I was after the 1st one. It was supposed to be in 2 weeks time, but I had an email yesterday saying I could have it earlier.
Well hope everyone has a good day9
