SSE gas billing discrepancies

I decided not to wait for a response to my email so I called the number on the Welcome Letter, which connected me to the New Customer team. The agent could see the discrepancy between the contracted tariff on the Welcome Letter and the rate charged on the bill, and decided to pass me over to the "Tariff Team". The agent there could also see the problem, said he had not seen it before, and put me on hold while he sought advice. On his return, he said that he could not get a quick solution, he would escalate the problem to find out how to resolve it. He checked that they had the correct phone number and email address to contact me, and provided me with his own direct email address. I now await further developments. I did not address the question of estimated readings.
Referring back to what might be right email address to use, I now find that at the foot of the Bill the address customerservice@sse.co.uk is given, which is not the same as the email address from which the bill was sent, and to which I addressed my original email. So I could have been waiting a long time for a response!0 -
SSE offered and I accepted a credit of £20 to cover the overcharging caused by the tariff error, which they aren't going to fix. The question of the high estimated reading will be dealt with if they try increasing my DD based on an overestimate of consumption.0

The saga continues. I submitted a meter reading on 23 July using the manual override method, because their website insists that it already knows my meter reading because of the smart meter. This resulted in a new bill being generated for the period 1 April to 24 May. This used an estimated value for 24 May 14 cubic metres less than the reading I submitted on 29 May. That's an undercharge of £4.90. No big deal. I am continuing to pay the monthly DD as agreed up front, which, as we are in the summer season is building up a credit balance. The SSE computer has decided to calculate my expected annual consumption as 558.63kWh, which is about what I expect to use in one week in January! On the basis of one bill covering 7 weeks it is hardly likely to come up with an accurate number.0
