Im just paying for sky but due to them not fixing the systems I cannot access it and because its and "internal" issue say wont reduce my subscription as its not their problem which does kind of make sense. it isnt sky's fault i cannot receive the signal they are sending its down to having a faulty communal issue.

But you have no extra expense  so that knocks that on the head .

It will come down to your lease agreement, what you're supposed to be receiving for your charge and whether a two week delay is reasonable.  You might be entitled to a partial refund of that charge, but you'll have to determine how much effort and expense is worth paying out to get what might be a small sum back.

Just to clarify - that's not generally how leases work - you don't generally pay for services in the way you suggest.

Instead, you buy a lease which includes the use of the shared infrastructure in the building - like electricity cables, water supply pipes, drains and presumably the TV feed hardware. You don't generally pay a monthly/yearly charge to use them.

But the freeholder (or their management company) is responsible for repairing the shared infrastructure - and then charging the leaseholders for the repairs. So if the electricity cables, water pipes, drains and presumably TV feed break, the freeholder's management company arranges for them to be fixed.

(But it's possible that the OP has a 'non-standard' arrangement for the TV feed. Especially if it was installed after the leases were initially granted.)

    Edit to add...
Perhaps an analogy is like a group of people jointly owning a car, and  they pay a garage to service it and repair it when required.  And the garage is taking a long time to repair the car, so the joint owners are unable to use it.

  • Even if you were able to claim some money off the management company, where is the management company going to get the funds from to pay you? It will be from the lease holders, so trying to claim would be self-defeating.
