Is it Worth Appealing Against a Speed Camera Ticket ?

I've just paid my fine and sent my licence off for endorsing. I was caught doing 32mph in a 20 zone (I didn't even know they existed apart from around schools), at midnight, no-one around. They're the first points I've ever had so I know how you feel.0

I'm sorry you were caught by one of the stupid machines, but there isn't much defence against them.
I recall reading that due to the number of people caught speeding - 2 million tickets last year - if you've had a clean license for a long time, your insurance may well not go up at all after 3 points, as it is more the norm to have 3 points than it is to have a clean license! Hopefully this will be the case for you and you won't have to lose more money than you have to.0 -
If the notice was issued by Thames Valley police, seeing as it your first offence and you are only just over the threshold for a penalty, you will have a very good chance of being offered a "speed awarness course" instead of points on your license. This will cost about £75, and take up several hours of your time, but it canbe worth it not having the points.(".)0

I have just been on the speed awareness course and found it very informative. I had to pay £75 but had no points put on my licence.
I think everyone should have the opportunity to go on this course.
