Marriage tax relief

Options
hello. I wondered if anybody else has experienced the same issue I currently have. I applied for marriage tax relief in early May. Online application was an absolute nightmare & didn’t work in the end due to very poor website - but that’s a different story. In the end did it all over the phone after finally getting through. They confirmed everything & my tax code has changed. Also applied for last years which went through ok. My problem is my tax code has changed for this year but I still haven’t received any kind of refund on last years tax. Am I going to have to ring up again to chase this? Tia

The last year's tax calculation will   be  dealt with separately and probably not until later in the year.
have you checked your personal tax account to see if it is noted there that it is to be dealt with?

Forgive my ignorance but I don’t even know how to check my personal tax account? I’ve read on this website along with others that usually you should get e cheque in the post within a few weeks after claiming

This is the busiest time of year for HMRC.  2021  returns being dealt with, covid grants being dealt with, additional security checks being made this year all lead to delays.

Thank you. That’s very helpful. It says:
    “Applied for Marriage Allowance retrospectively“
does this mean like you say, we’re just in a queue waiting to be processed?
    thanks
