Holiday cottage price dropped since booking

Options
I booked a holiday cottage from the Independent Cottages website and paid a deposit. The price the owner quoted by email matched the price on the website for the week I booked.
The balance is due soon. I looked at the website again today and the price per week for that peak period has now dropped quite a lot. It doesn't say "special offer" or anything, it's just the new price against each week.
I guess they will say I agreed to pay the original price, but should they charge me the lower price?

The price you should pay is the price you agreed to pay when you booked.

Is it worth you cancelling, forfeiting the deposit and paying again or are we talking pennies?

About £120 difference so less than the deposit. I'll just pay the original price. It's a bit annoying though.

Would you be happy paying more if the price had gone up ?

Always worth contacting them and asking nicely though- you never know

That seems odd when so many places are booked out. It's worth asking them nicely why this has happened. You may get a good reason and you may get a bit off the price. But if you've found a nice place and know you'll get a holiday the £120 is worth it right now.
I wonder if it's this game people are playing of booking a place in the UK and a foreign holiday though that maybe would mean the deposit would be refundable or maybe they feel it's worth paying the deposit if they get their trip abroad.
Or maybe people aren't able to fulfill the booking due to work, lack of work or isolation.
But it's quite unusual to see at this time
I never look back once I've booked. I've made my decision, got what I wanted and it could be annoying to see it cheaper.
