Changing from a prepaid meter to a credit meter/smart meter.

Hello all,
As per the title of the thread, recently moved into a house and wondering if it would be possible to change our prepaid meter to a credit/smart meter?
Been in touch with our current energy provider(bulb) and after various discussions over a couple of months, they finally gave us the answer that inorder to change from a prepaid box to a credit/smartmeter, they would essentially need to get rid of the cupboard. Just wondering before I try other energy providers (not impressed with bulb anyway in terms of how long it took them to give us an answer) whether installing the alternative boxes would be feasible without getting rid of the cupboard.
I've attached pictures as per the below:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
