I had an unauthorised payment taken from my account I rang the bank they said they would refund me is this correct

Too little information to make a decent answer.
Remember if bank refund you and the retailer contests it as a genuine payment. Either the bank will redebit you or the retailer will be looking at taking you to court.Life in the slow lane0 -
