No idea what to do next

Hi all.
I am at my witts end with Scottish Power. I moved my gas and electricity to Toniq the day before they went bust. I was then moved to Scottish Power but for some reason only my electricity moved across. I have called at least ten times and been given different answers each time. This involves being on hold anything from one hour to two hours and then the majority of the time the agent cuts me off. Like this morning. 56 minutes in and she said I'll put you on hold whilst I look into it. Comes back and says she needs to read more notes. Back on hold then it says call ended. I wasn't touching the phone so it wasn't me.
Nine months I have not paid for gas. I've tried my very best to get them to sort it but it's like they don't want to help or are just incompetent.
My question to you is, what can I do? How can I get this sorted? If I try and switch will I be able to, if my gas is not really with anyone? Is there a way to go higher up at Scottish Power to complain and get this sorted?
Thanks in advance.

Have you been putting a sum of money aside to pay for the gas when the bill eventually arrives?
