Moths

We have just moved house and one of our rooms has the attic doors in it. Outside of the attic door is a skylight/velux window, within the room. There's quite a lot of stuff in this room, some of which my OH was putting in the attic. He inadvertently left the attic door open this evening, and when I went in to the room there were about ten black and white moths (quite slim ones) hovering around the skylight.
im not sure whether these will have come from the attic, or whether we've brought in larvae which have hatched (lots of the stuff came from our old garage).
never had a moth problem before. I've closed the loft and the door to the room, what should I do next? Apart from scratch my itches! 

Not sure it's relevant but the house is semi rural and old, with a relatively new roof.
