Hi all,
Looking for some advice please to check I’m in the right! My 15 year old sold his PC last week via Facebook market place (under my profile and name). 19 year old turned up, saw it working, purchased it and then had problems setting it up so I helped him via the phone. Few hours later messaged me to say he was happy with the PC, sent a pic of it all set up and working and thanked me for selling it to him!

Today (5 days later) he’s sent me a message saying ‘I’m really not getting on with this computer’. I’ve replied to say I’m sorry to hear that but not a lot I can do!

As a private seller, I don’t have to refund him do I? I listed all the tech details we knew of the PC on the advert and 5 days ago, he was happy with the PC!

I know it’s a silly thing to be anxious about but as a single Mum of 3, it’s giving me a bit of anxiety!

Any advice or help welcome please.

You're fine, as long as your description was accurate.  Private sale, buyer beware.

Perhaps change the thread title to Buyer changed mind.

Just block and ignore him- you have no obligation whatsoever to engage with him let alone refund him
  • Ignore him, he saw the PC working and accepted it was as described.
    Time to be tough.

Thanks all… appreciate that as was having a little panic! Description was accurate so thought that would be the case to ignore him.

Changed title too… I hadn’t noticed in my panic to type lol - thank you for the heads up! ☺️

    Thanks all… appreciate it.

You can also block him if you need to.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Thank you… I will if he messages me again!
  • Would you not be anxious in the slightest if you had no kids?
    Just wondered.

I assume he paid cash? in that case as above, politely tell him sorry but no returns.
