Raising bathroom ceiling height

Options
Hi all
Just purchased a property and all is well. However the ceiling in the bathroom is slightly too low for me, I’m 6’2” and when stood in the bath, have to stoop slightly. The previous owners tell us they lowered it to install spot lights, the loft is boarded.

what are my options if any? What’s the best way to tackle this? Costs?

If you can pull out a spotlight, you could have a look at what's behind it.  You might find that the old ceiling is still there.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

I guess the spot lights are very old, huge in size (depth) - too big for the original ceiling space under the boards.
Remove the lowered ceiling and restore the original one. If you still want recessed lights, install modern slim ones that can be fitted directly into the original ceiling.
