O/S Daily Wednesday 2 June 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Clear blue sky, sun shining and another warm start to the day. Wash load ready to peg out.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here.
Dinner last night was LO's from Sundays' bbq and other bits I wanted to get used up - I saute some cooked new potatoes, cooked some sausages, then we had salad, scotch egg, a beef stick, cooked chicken - I got everything used up that I wanted, there was no waste. Tonight we'll be having fish - menfolk, fish strips, chips and beans, I'll have baked fish and veg.
As expected work yesterday was very busy and will be again today - it's my half day so early finish.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC.It's a cloudy start here, i think it'll brighten up though. We went to a little local garden centre yesterday for compost, and got busy with repotting and general tidying outside. I always grow a sunflower, last year's was over 13' tall, up the side of the house. I started doing it when one of our older grandsons was a little boy, and we've done it every year since. He had been staying, and wanted to plant some seeds and one of them was a sunflower.DH tidied up in the front garden and swept the path under the window where the birds make a mess digging about, not that we mind..That was yesterday, who knows what today will bring.Thinking of our poorly people, and those struggling with life. - take care folks.14

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc, enjoy your early finish.
Glad your appointment went well Maddie.
Sounds like you're making inroads Gers.
What a shame Ruby, hope everything gets sorted today.
The sun is shining this morning, it was quite fresh when I went for a walk. Yesterday was very warm with no breeze and it seemed like all the air had been sucked away somewhere, hoping today is better. Can't believe we were moaning last week that it was too cold!
I went for a swim last night and intend to do the same tonight, the water was so lovely and cool. Washing on the line and the little greenhouse is open, must water the hanging baskets tonight.
Have a good day, take care. XX12 -
Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off nmlc, I hope you can enjoy some sunshine on your half day.Yesterday I found more documents in an unexpected place. Amongst these were two very tiny diaries dated 1946 and 1947. My DM had made them by sewing pieces of paper together and using cardboard as the front and back. Such tiny writing too. It just snapped me into understanding why she kept every scrap of paper, it was so scarce and precious after the war. Then I found that her faithful crossword friend had taken them to the university to enlarge and photocopy them up to A3, not too much is legible for 1946 but the later one is better. I had a very emotional moment when I found them. All this stalled the art materials sort through. This morning I'm having a break by meeting up with Alan for poached eggs and toast in our favourite Italian cafe. When I come back I've more papers to scan before they hit the bin.I hope that everyone can enjoy some sunshine. Nelski, I have you in my thoughts and all the other poorlies.Happy Wednesday to all.16

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Another beautiful start. I sat out with my book yesterday afternoon but it was too hot for sitting long and I was in and out like Jockey and Ginny trying to cool down a bit. I'm not complaining though!
Today is bus trip day - all 3 of us today so back at full strength for now! It'll probably be Skipton for a market browse followed by lunch with a bottle of wine. I hope we can get an outdoor table somewhere. I hope it isn't too busy as I imagine the coach trippers will be back on the road again.
My GTech came apart yesterday! The handle just came adrift from the base! There is a sort of screw which keeps them together but I lost patience trying to get them together again. There is nothing to grip on to. . Grr I hope it doesn't mean a new one. I'll try again tomorrow.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. GERS it looks as though there is still so much "treasure" waiting for you to find in among all the mundane clearing. Enjoy your breakfast and, more importantly, the company. Where would we be without friends. NAN I shall be thinking of you at the face to face today and hoping you come away with some hope of treatment. NELS hoping the fingers are soon on the mend. - MARIE & DUMPLING in my thoughts. Take care one and all xx

Morning all late one for me woke up at 4 for an hour or so then fell back asleep and i don't feel any better for it . Dog will be walked and then no matter how much she pesters me we won't be going out till later tonight. No real plans for the day just some tidying up and a call to the estate agents they were supposed to call yesterday but didn't probably super busy after the bank holiday . I need to fill 2 boxes to take to the big house but i may do 1 box and a suitcase not sure as yet .
Have a good day one and all stay safe and stay cool xSlava Ukraini13 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
I've not posted for a few days as we have been moored in a dead zone with no wifi or phone signal.
We moved on yesterday, the signal is a bit intermittent but better than before.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.13 -
Morning all
Lovely bright sunny day here washing is on the go and can be hung out later. I took a thin blanket up to bed last night and slept under that as its been too warm under the duvet but I woke up a couple of times cold so can't win !
Plumber came yesterday and sorted the leak so all hot water working again, there is now a hole in the wall but I will get some filler and fill it and then paint over it so no great harm done.
I have an appointment this morning and then will get the dogs out for a walk we usually take them to the woods in the hot weather as its a bit cooler for them and there is a pond they can jump in to cool off.
The gardener did not come to mums yesterday as he went home sick he thinks it was sunstroke but is hoping to come today so I will nip up there later to go through what she wants with him.
Ive got a joint of lamb that needs using for dinner I was going to do a roast but I think it might be too hot so will get my thinking hat on for an alternative, maybe cubed garlic potatoes and some asparagus.
Nan I hope all goes well today xx
Gers what a lovely thing to find hope you enjoy your breakfast with Alan xxx
Nels hope your hands are a bit better in the warmer weather xx
Have good days all xx13 -
Morning, hugs if you need one.
Another bright morning, it was really hot yesterday afternoon, we sat in the cool sitting room.
Gers - what a find, its a pity than some of it is illegible. Wise to have a break, give yourself room to breathe.
Coffee morning this morning, was hoping to take the two pillows but had a very bad day yesterday, one of them ended up being just chucked on the table. I should have stopped then, bit I started to put the zip in the last one........gave up after doing it twice.Very blue air, will leave them alone for a couple of days.
Supper tonight will, I think, be smoked haddock with poached eggs and bread and butter.

Morning all. Did pot on some of the tomatoes but the rest wil have to wait until today. And the sun is beating down this morning. I could feel the heat from behind the curtains when I went to open them. So I didn't open them. Let it stay slightly cooler a bit longer in the living room. Nothing is planned again for today apart from a bit more potting on. I have finally found out what the probable cause is of the aches and pains and it's the tablets I'm on. Still another eight years of that so I'd better pull my big girls pants up and deal with it. So if you hear me moaning about it again, I've probably forgotten why so tell me to shut upGoing to collect up the bits to go to the tip after, a few saucepans, mugs, plates etc so my boot is container friendly and all the metal bits are together, the ceramic bits together etc. I love a tip run. Even better if I spot someone there throwing away something I can use....Nanny, good luck to you and Mr Fixit today. Gers, how lovely and how sobering a thought. You know these things about people, but sometimes it takes something really small, literally in this case, to bring it home in a way you can understand. Enjoy breakfast with Alan
AOD, I like your description of what happens to errant fox poo, it did make me laugh. Scarlet, now you have me fancing growing massive sunflowers...TA, enjoy your meal with friends. Ruby, well done on averting disaster, lamb kebabs on the barbie? I'm off again to surf the net for a bit this morning, going to read some news, make some tea, wait for the binmen and drag the bins back in. Have a great day if you can, enjoy the sun while it's around

Good morning, another lovely day here. Thank you nmlc for the new thread.
Dog is sunbathing on the lawn, OH has been sent out cycling early before it gets too hot, I made a right pigs ear of the Asda shop last night, completely forgot that the cut off is 10pm not midnight so this morning they delivered the basic shop I had put in the trolley and all the later pluses and minuses did not register, not too awful, but have a bit too much veg to use before we go away on Sunday and a lot of yogurt and milk, final insult this morning was me knocking a large carton of yogurt out of the fridge and of course the pot split, will hasten and finish the one in use and decant into cleaned pot.
Nanny thinking of you and Mr Fixit today. Gers how lovely to find those teensy diaries. TA have a lovely day out, I hope the G-Tech is fixable. Hester I hope the signal holds up when you need it too. Nelski thinking of you with your poorly hands.
Have a good day all, take care. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)12
