Travel Agent vs RyanAir refund

I booked a trip to Dublin through a travel agent but due to the law not letting us leave the UK we couldn’t go. The travel agent has now said because Ryanair didn’t cancel the flight (their trick to not paying out) they can only offer vouchers instead of a refund (vouchers are limited to certain airlines). Surely the agent should give us a full refund and then they try and get a refund from Ryanair? Or is that just wishful thinking?

Ryanair flights are non-refundable. If the flight operated there is no refund due from them to you or the agent.
Did you book a package with an ATOL certificate? which travel agent?

worth a read here, however this is the CMA 'view' and I believe it is yet to be tested in court

It will also be worth reading carefully through your booking terms and conditions...do you have travel insurance that may cover you?

Just to clarify, lots of people need to travel for work / to look after people etc, it’s not a trick to avoid paying out.
Just because you couldn’t travel doesn’t mean no one else has to; a lot of people still need to move around for reasons other than leisure :)
