Moving - Pickfords Opinions

Hello everyone,
We're moving from a 3 bed 3 storey town house to a 2 storey 3 bed in a town just over 7 miles away. The narrowness of our current property means lots of things need dissassembling (wardrobes, beds etc) and it's a little akward.
We've had a few quotes ranging from £300 (did it over the phone) £600 (local firm visited in person but were quite dismissive if not talkative) and Pickfords at £750 (dropped from £850), Pickfords includes wardrobe boxes, full insurance and the concierge moving service.
They are more expensive but I'm wary of underpaying if that makes sense. If anyone has any recent reviews of Pickfords or views that'd be greatly appreciated - I'm not sure if I'm being wooed by the name!
I'd love to just hire a van myself but work is so busy at the moment I'm likely to be working from the office and leaving the OH in charge on moving day!

They wouldn't woo me, I've always been told they're much pricier and am surprised your quote is as low as it is. Thought it would be nearer 3k, although obviously I don't know the size of your property.
The removal company I've used lots always dismantle beds, furniture, etc. Plus they provide wardrobe boxes and packing materials etc and are obviously insured. Isn't all that pretty standard?2024 wins: *must start comping again!*1 -
We have used Pickfords (including the packing service) for several moves - including an international move. They have always been expensive, but in my experience, excellent service. Never had any issues with damages goods etc and they are super efficient. On the return international move, the guys even sourced some replacement bolts and screws to put some furniture together that had got lost (Pickfords didn't do the packing abroad).
For our most recent move I also got quotes from another national company which was quite a bit cheaper, but I read some really quite bad reviews which put me off a bit.
You do read some negative reviews about Pickfords and at the end of the day, a lot of the experience is down to the crew on the day, but I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.2 -

We used them last year for a bit of a complicated move.Sold a second floor apartment previously used as a holiday home in the Lake District but we were dividing the contents between various family members requiring 3 separate drop offs in Cheshire.A few other companies, both local and national,we tried just weren’t interested in the job.
They weren’t the cheapest (about £1200 if I recall correctly) but they were fantastic! 3 guys emptied the old place with incredible speed, disassembling furniture and loading the van in a particular order as to where various items were going. We didn’t use the packing service but it was a 250 mile round trip for the crew.
At this end everything delivered to the correct address,no breakages and all carried out with incredibly good humour. We had a few items of furniture that needed removing that nobody could make use of and they took these and disposed of them at no additional cost.
Would definitely use again as the service from the Manchester office was flawless from start to finish2 -
We have used them for several moves and couldn't fault them.
They actually beat the other quotes we had received.1
