I can confirm that if you are in group 6 then you can turn up at a centre as a walk in for your 2nd jab providing it is the same as the first vaccine given. I was able to do mine last week that way as I was at the 10 week mark and hadn’t had a message to bring it forward.

Are you in England? If so you have a number of options:

    1. Go online to the national booking site and it will offer you a booked second AZ vaccine.
    2. turn up at a mass vaccination centre doing AZ and they will take you as a walk in, if they have spare vaccine. No appointment necessary. Clinics have been told to give second AZs to anyone 8 weeks after their first, no age 50+ restriction for now.
    3. Wait for your GP to book you in, though I’m surprised and disappointed this hasn’t happened already.

    NHSInform (Scotland) website says
"There are no safety concerns if the time between your first and second dose is more than 12 weeks."

Though this was with Pfizer, I had a text with 2nd jab appt 9 days before. Yet I know a few who go to the same GP practice as me and had less than a day’s notice!

I am in Scotland and I had my 1st vaccine on the 17 March.  I have had no notification of my 2nd vaccination so I   contacted NHS Scotland who emailed me to day that there was an appointment made for me and gave me the date.  I just went to the centre on the date and time on the email and got my jab.

Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.

It turns out that the vaccine is available and you can get a second dose, it is not at all necessary to wait for the call? or did I get it wrong? Is there any sequence of vaccinations or not?

Many mass vac centres in England are now operating a “walk in, no appointment necessary” for second AZ jabs. You need to be at least 8 weeks on from your first jab. Those over 50 or in the original 9 categories of priority groups will be prioritised, but it is open to all. You should be able to find local times of walk in clinics from local social media.
if you want to wait until called by your GP clinic you can do so. Or you can book online if you want the security of knowing you have ana appointment.

Myself and my missus received an email each (seconds apart) informing us that as we were ‘Priority’ we could bring forward our date for 2nd jab from the 30th June, we tried to change our date online but then called 119, they told us that the first date available at the same unit as before is the 30th June 😳. Anyway with c500,000 jabs a day, I don’t expect them to get it 100% right, good luck.

It's possible the same email went to many people and others responded first.  For my initial appointment booking I received a SMS at 7am saying there were appointments available for 4 dates at my local GP led centre (2 the same week and 2 the following week), I clicked on the link at 7:15am and there were only appointments showing for 2 of the dates mentioned in the SMS (the 2 the following week.)
  • Sorry for posting & then not replying M

I'm in Wales so (as far as I know) don't have the ability to book an appointment for the 2nd dose.

I did speak to the GPs & I should get a phone call in the next fortnight.
