Think long and hard before switching energy suppliers
I used the MSE Cheap Energy Club to help me switch energy suppliers. My advice to anyone considering switching would be to think long and hard before doing it. I switched to British Gas and so far it have been nothing but problems. I already had an online Boiler & Heating account with them but on the day I started the switch, this went missing and no matter how many times I contact them they still have no idea what happened. Further to that I have had two appointments for boiler services where their engineers have never bothered to turn up. No phone calls, apologies or any form of contact at all.
For me, switching energy suppliers is not something I would ever consider again let alone do.

Other than your Boiler account did the energy - electricity and/or gas go OK ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

I have had a dozen or more no trouble swaps .Though all for energy not boilers .1

657,000 consumers in April seem to think that switching is worth doing. Your insurance problems seem to be down to BG’s internal systems and have nothing to do with the energy switching process.1

For me, switching energy suppliers is not something I would ever consider again let alone do.No issues with supply here unless you have not mentioned them.Did you accidentally sign up for a free years boiler cover and cause confusion on the system. Also as is well known they have no engineers to do the work currently, but again this is nothign to do with supply side businesses.Best boiler cover is to keep a pot of money for issues and gert yourt local trusted tradesman (who preferably installed it) to service it. Boiler copver is not money saving (neither is having a national company install your boiler).I'm with BG for supply and have no issues (beyond maybe building up a small debt becuase I never send them reads! I'll check it at 6 months, if they want reads they should chaneg the smart meter thaty stopped working when I moved to them (they could well have remotely for all the attention I have been paying, but like I said 6 month check and my DD was set at a reasonable level by me, though it has been a colder winter).0 -
It has so far taken at least ten weeks and sending opening meter readings on at least five occasions which British Gas never bothered to read or use on my account. They just kept resending the same request for an opening meter reading.
As part of the plan, I now have to have new smart meters installed, something which on their past performances I am dreading. When I tried to rebook the service where no one bothered to turn up today, They asked me when I would like the engineer to come so I gave them a number of days, none of which were any good to them so why ask me for availability?1 -

Don't see the relevance to MSE really,it's a British Gas problem which would've happened irrespective of how or why you ended up there.

Cheap Energy Club is currently down. Our techies are working furiously to fix the issue and we're hoping to be back up soon. "
