Storage room above stairs/landing loft

Hello
I've been thinking about using the space above my stairs as a storage area and have an idea of what I want to do but was wondering if anyone has attempted anything similar and could offer any advice please?
Essentially it would end up being a small L shaped room for extra storage and I'd want it to be able to support a decent amount of weight. The room would be just over 5 feet high if the new floor level was at the grid marked on the first picture "from above" and there would be almost 7 feet clearance on the stairs which should be plenty.
My plan is to extend/reinforce the wooden posts A,B and C as supports and also have some new supports screwed into the exterior walls marked D & E. The wall to the left is not load bearing which is why I think extending the posts up seems like a good idea. The entrance would be climbed into from the landing above where the banister is that you can see on the first picture (where I took the picture from).

Unfortunately I have no experience of doing anything like this so I'm
not sure what materials to use which is where I was hoping somebody
might be able to advise?
