Hi, does anyone know what my rights are regarding a faulty item that I bought in store during the Debenhams closing down sale please?
I bought a duvet for £20. It was in a completely sealed bag. When I opened it, the stuffing was hanging out as a large area hadn’t been sewn and there was also a stain with a strip of masking tape over it.
I contacted Debenhams/Boohoo but was advised that they’re only accepting online returns, not in store purchases. They advised me to donate the item to charity.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Don't donate it to charity. They will just have to bin it. Which costs them money.Adams2020 said:They advised me to donate the item to charity.

For "change of mind" etc returns, yes, but they can't remove your statutory rights. If the OP bought from the administrators then they have their usual consumer rights against the administrators._shel said:

Fair enough but wasn't the administration ended when the brand and website were sold and all shops closed?user1977 said:

No, they've still got a fair bit of work to do before everything's tied up._shel said:

Yes, that is true if you just want to return an item because you have changed your mind. But your item is faulty. You are entitled to a full refund, whether they are closing down or not.
I agree with user1977, you DO still have consumer rights. Please don't let them get away with this.

Their rights would not lay with boohoo though? They only bought the brand not the company didn't they?It would be the administrators if they're still not done.2
